ABOUT
Laurie Frick is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice transforms the invisible data of daily life into meticulously handcrafted works that merge technology, craft, and abstraction. Drawing on her background in engineering and technology, she translates biometric and behavioral data into tactile compositions of wool, leather, glass, paint, and other materials, reclaiming personal information from systems of surveillance and turning it into intimate visual self-portraits. Through rhythmic patterns, calibrated color relationships, and labor-intensive construction, Frick reveals the hidden structures that shape our habits, identities, and perception of time. Her work offers a distinctly human vision of the algorithmic age, proposing that data can become a poetic and deeply personal record of lived experience rather than merely a tool for extraction.
