ABOUT

Regina Durante Jestrow is a textile artist whose practice reimagines the traditions of American quilt-making through contemporary abstraction, personal narrative, and material experimentation. Combining hand-dyed fabrics, repurposed textiles, and unconventional materials such as neoprene, sequins, and faux leather, she constructs vibrant geometric compositions that bridge craft, painting, and sculpture while addressing themes of women's history, sustainability, and community. Drawing inspiration from the activist legacy of the Gee's Bend quilters alongside modernist innovators including Anni Albers, Rosie Lee Tompkins, and Gego, Jestrow expands the language of quilting into richly layered works that balance precision with improvisation. Her colorful, tactile compositions reflect both the cultural landscape of Miami and the enduring power of textiles to preserve memory, foster connection, and transform everyday materials into objects of lasting significance.
